Good Friday
10 April, 2009

What's good about Good Friday?

There's a whole lot really.  it is perhaps the commemoration of the 'goodest' day in all of history.  Because on that Friday about 2000 years ago the greatest good happened:

  1. Jesus took the sin of the whole world and all its consequences upon himself on the Cross of Calvary
  2. God the Father accepted this sacrifice as a fitting one that appeases His wrath against sin.
  3. Heaven's gates are opened to all who accept this subsititutionary sacrifice.  All of mankind is potentially saved from eternal damnation.
  4. Satan was disarmed.  The only power he now has is what he can deceive us to give him.
  5. Death and the grave are conquered since Jesus took the keys of death and hell from the enemy.
  6. Mankind can return to their God and Father through the blood of Jesus and become the sons and daughters of God.
That sounds really good!  But Good Friday is of no good unless you and I personally receive the free gift of salvation that Jesus died to purchase for us.  Life the cure of a deadly disease is only good if it is accepted or like soap is only good as it is applied; Good Friday can only be good if it is beleived in and accepted personally in our lives.
